Outdoor Season: What is Outdoor Field Hockey?
Field Hockey is a Summer Olympic Sport, It is the second most played team sport in the world, and the first stick and ball sport ever to be created. The sport is also known as hockey everywhere in the world except North America. It is a team sport in which players score goals by hitting, pushing or flicking a hard ball into an opposing team’s net using Field hockey sticks. It is played at International tournaments for men and women.
Program Information:
We offer U6 Funstix, U8, U10, U12, U14, U16, U19 (aka JUNIOR) , and ADULT (in conjunction with EFHA) Field Hockey Programs. Our JUNIOR Program (U6 through U19 may consist of mixed teams, all boys, and/or all girl teams; dependent upon registration numbers).
Our program will run from April/May through September/October. The actual timeframe will be dependent upon sport field availability, and weather). Currently all programs are played on artificial turf facilities at Millwoods Turf.
Because we are on artificial turf, there are NO RAIN OUT DAYS.
Each participant is required to have a mouth guard and shin pads- (such as soccer shin pads to participate).
U6 Funstix will have sticks for play.
Currently there are NO TRY OUTS for ANY program, so come out and join the fun at anytime! We are flexible and accept new and returning players at any time!.
What is Included In Your Registration Fees:
· Coaching from qualified and NCCP certified coaches
· Participation in Regional day Festival Tournaments (eg. Edmonton, Calgary, Didsbury, Red Deer)
Provincial Club Championships for U16 and U19
· Programing that follows the LTHD Long Term Hockey Development Model

What Your Child Needs to Participate:
· Comfortable Clothing for Activity and running
· Mouth Guard
· Soccer Shin Pads
* Goalie/Keeper equipment is availble to use for the seaons.
· Turf shoe or good pair of cross trainer runners
Local League Participation and Membership:
After registering for a program- each participant becomes a registered member with Field Hockey Alberta and Field Hockey Canada. As a registered member you will receive individual insurance in case of injury as well as updates from both organizations.
Our club also registers teams in local leagues ran and sanctioned by Field Hockey Alberta for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. These leagues focus on friendly competition between local clubs and offers game-like experience to our members.
Looking for Field Hockey Equipment to purchase:
Our club will be aquiring and selling Shin Pads, sticks and other items.
At the local tournaments there will be local sellers from Alberta
